March 7, 2009 Canberra, Australia Canberra Balloon Festival Headlines: "US Aircraft attacked by Australian Missile" The Aborigines were protesting at the Parliament right by where we were told to set up. They threatened us and said they were going to set the balloon on fire. We were told to ignore them, but one of them threw a spear which put a little hole in the birthday banner and it went through to the envelope. The hole in the balloon is the size of a pencil and the one in the banner is a little bigger. The person that thru the spear was in his early 20's. From the look on his face, he thought the balloon was going to pop like a party balloon. At the next day's Pilot Briefing, the big computer screen had on it "US Aircraft attacked by Australian Missile" for all to see as they came into briefing. Debbie said "Now EVERYBODY knows who we are." Everybody was so appolgetic about the entire incident, and took care of the entire Birthday Cake team the entire week. The Aussies where great to deal with and very friendly every step of the way.
